MOBIMATTER LTD in Al Sarab Tower, not a carrier
MobiMatter is the consumer storefront of MOBIMATTER LTD, an eSIM marketplace rather than a licensed mobile-network operator. The firm lists D07 and D08, 14th Floor, Al Sarab Tower, Abu Dhabi Global Market Square, Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Terms on mobimatter.com state that the site is controlled from the Abu Dhabi Global Market, ADGM law governs use, and you must be 18 to register or transact. Google Play names the same company, support@mobimatter.com, and +852 9367 2590. The About page frames a comparison layer over partner telecom systems so you can pay online and receive a digital profile at once. The typical travel purchase is still a data eSIM.
Operator shelves, not a single MobiMatter network
On 16 September 2026 the homepage advertised packages for 190-plus countries. The Google Play listing for MobiMatter: eSIM Marketplace (com.glowfishlabs.mobimatter) went further: 500-plus deals, 200-plus countries, and 30-plus providers, including Airalo, 3, eSIMGo, Ubigi, O2, and DTAC. You are not buying a MobiMatter radio network. You pick a named operator's plan, with its own coverage list, APN notes, 5G claim, and validity trigger. Single-country tourist packs sit beside Europe, Asia, North America, and yearly global allowances. Prices change; the examples below are homepage tiles that day, not a contract. Read the SKU page you click for data-only and hotspot notes.
Destination search is the usual path: country or region, then data size, days, and operator. Most travel SKUs are data-only; a minority list a number with calls or SMS, and the product description is the only place that fact is reliable. Unlimited tiles, when shown, sit under a Fair Usage Policy in the site terms. Personal mobile use is in bounds. Heavy P2P, unattended transfers, or using the line as a fixed office pipe can be slowed or suspended. Checkout accepts Visa and Mastercard; the refunds page also mentions digital wallets and other methods shown at pay. Displayed currency is the charged currency.
- Europe Special 10 GB at $10.49 on 16 September 2026 (homepage also showed $13.99 struck)
- USA 15 GB at $12.99; a later homepage load also showed USA 20 GB at $16.99
- Japan 20 GB from RoamVault, 30 days, $13.99; Thailand Happy Tourist from True, 50 GB, $9.99
- UK 999 GB from eSIMGo, 30 days, $24.99; North America 10 GB from eSIMGo, $17.99
- Global 13 GB yearly $41.99; Half Global 30 GB yearly $34.99
- Asialink 20 GB from Airalo $19.99; Indonesia 30 GB from TSimTech $17.99
Confirm EID and unlock before you tap pay
Run the hardware check before you pay. The compatibility article updated 9 February 2026 says dial *#06# and look for an EID, or open settings and look for Add Cellular Plan, Add Mobile Plan, or Add SIM. On iPhone that sits under Settings, Cellular or Mobile Data. On Samsung it is Connections, SIM Card Manager. On Pixel it is Network and Internet, SIMs. An EID is required but not enough. Carrier-locked phones cannot use third-party eSIMs until the home operator unlocks them. iPhone: Settings, General, About, Carrier Lock should read No SIM restrictions. Samsung: if you cannot see other Network Operators, treat the device as locked and stop.
Two regional traps sit on the same help page. iPhones made for the Chinese market with two physical SIM trays do not support eSIM. Some Samsung Galaxy units hide eSIM by country of sale; missing Add Mobile Plan means the feature is off regardless of a generic S24 list. MobiMatter's Apple list runs from iPhone XS through iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, plus iPad Air 3rd generation, iPad Pro 3rd generation, and iPad Mini 5th generation. Samsung coverage includes Galaxy S20 through S25, Fold2 through Fold6, Flip3 through Flip6, Note20, and A36 5G, A55 5G, A56 5G, and XCover 7. Pixel coverage is listed from Pixel 2 through Pixel 10 Pro Fold. Confirm in settings; published lists lag new models.
Three install paths and two validity clocks
Delivery is instant digital. After payment, the QR and activation details appear on screen and in email. A 20 November 2025 help article lists three install methods: scan the QR from Add eSIM, tap Install Now in the app so the profile installs without a second screen, or enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually. Use stable Wi-Fi. MobiMatter recommends buying shortly before travel, leaving the new line off until you land, then enabling Data Roaming on that profile only. Some countries, including the UAE, can restrict purchase or activation after entry, so install before you fly there. Do not treat deletion as a fix; many operators will not re-issue a scanned QR.
Validity is where people waste paid days. An article dated 29 December 2025 says most packages start either when you scan and download or when the phone first attaches to a supported network. There is no marketplace-wide default. The product description is the rule. Connection-triggered plans can sit installed and off until landing. Install-triggered plans start the 7-, 15-, or 30-day window the moment the profile lands, even at home. On iOS, Activating or Failed to activate while you are off-network can mean a finished download waiting for radio, according to a 23 January 2026 note. Restart, keep the line off, and finish APN and roaming steps after you arrive.
Open mobimatter.com, pick your destination, and read the operator name plus whether validity starts on install or first attach before you pay. Confirm an EID and an unlocked phone, then install on Wi-Fi with the line left off until you land.
Compare live MobiMatter eSIM packages →Keep the home number, park data on the travel line
Dual SIM is the intended travel setup. Keep the home SIM for voice and SMS. Set Cellular Data to the MobiMatter line. Turn Data Roaming off on the home SIM and on for the travel eSIM so the home carrier cannot bill roaming data. WhatsApp stays on the original number unless you tap Change Number. Leave the home line on if you need iMessage and FaceTime on that identity. Hotspot is generally supported so a laptop can share the phone; a product page can still forbid it. Apple Watch is not supported, because watch cellular usually needs a carrier plan shared with the iPhone. Many phones store five to ten-plus profiles while keeping one or two active.
When roaming or a plastic SIM still wins
Home-carrier roaming is the least fiddly path: land, data works, bank SMS still arrives on the same number. It is also often the expensive path, and many prepaid home SIMs block roaming. A kiosk tourist SIM can include a local number and sometimes a lower per-gigabyte price, at the cost of a queue, a tray swap, and a card you will misplace. MobiMatter sits between those options: compare several operators, keep the plastic SIM in the tray, install on Wi-Fi before wheels-up. The cost is data-first SKUs, operator-dependent refunds, and coverage only as good as the partner on the tile. Need a local number, or no EID? Buy plastic or pay the home roaming pass.
- Buy MobiMatter if the phone is unlocked, shows an EID, and you mainly need maps, chat, and hotspot
- Keep the home line on for voice, SMS, and WhatsApp; park data on the travel eSIM
- Prefer a physical tourist SIM when you need a local number, airport staff, or a locked phone
- Prefer home-carrier roaming if you will not manage dual-SIM toggles and will pay the published pass
- Do not scan the QR until you have read whether validity starts on install or on first attach
- Use mobimatter.com/troubleshoot before deleting a profile; deletion often kills refunds
A travel eSIM marketplace is a comparison desk, not a promise that every partner radio will behave like your home carrier. Read the operator name, the start rule, and the refund path on the SKU you actually buy. If that homework feels like too much for a weekend city break, a published roaming pass or an airport SIM is the cleaner ticket.

Troubleshooting first: how refunds actually work
Refunds do not work like a 30-day electronics return. MOBIMATTER LTD's delivery and refunds policy applies to the website and app. After download or activation, a full or partial refund is described only if the service fails from a genuine product or technical fault and no fix arrives more than 24 hours after you submit a complete report at mobimatter.com/troubleshoot. You are out of scope if you never asked for help, deleted the eSIM, factory-reset or lost the phone, bought the wrong country, used part of the data, or simply dislike speed. Standing outside the SKU's coverage counts as a wrong purchase. Network-performance dissatisfaction is listed as non-eligible even when the radio feels slow.
If the profile has not been downloaded, the policy still discusses cancellations for an ineligible device or a change of mind, with operator fees possible. Digital goods—QR codes, top-ups, add-ons, bill payments—are otherwise called not eligible for returns. MobiMatter says it will try to mediate with the operator and may refund at its own discretion, without guaranteeing a result. Approved refunds return to the original payment method in 10 to 45 days, depending on the card issuer. Liability is capped at the amount paid. Wallet cashback is separate: signed-in buyers can choose about 10 percent back at checkout. Credits are USD and expire after 12 months without a purchase. The rewards page requires at least $16 covering the full SKU.
Frequent hoppers, gifts, and people who should walk away
This marketplace fits unlocked eSIM phones and trips where WhatsApp and maps matter more than a local voice number. Frequent travelers can store several profiles and switch lines in settings rather than deleting the last country. Top-ups at mobimatter.com/topup must match the same operator and order number; they start a new validity window. You can buy for someone else by entering their email at checkout or forwarding the QR, if their device is unlocked. Transfer is not guaranteed: some operators allow a rescan, some reissue a QR, some lock to the first device. Use the Troubleshooting Wizard before you delete anything. Skip the site if you need Apple Watch cellular, a locked phone, or a no-questions refund after scanning.
If the phone is unlocked and you have checked the SKU's networks and start rule, complete checkout on mobimatter.com, save the QR, and keep mobimatter.com/troubleshoot bookmarked in case the radio fails after landing.
Buy a MobiMatter eSIM on Wi-Fi before you fly →Frequently asked questions
Should I install the eSIM at home or after landing?
Buy when you like, but install on Wi-Fi shortly before you fly if you want data the moment you leave the jet bridge. MobiMatter's destination article says you can wait until arrival; it still prefers a completed profile that stays switched off until landing. That pattern only preserves days on connection-triggered SKUs. Install-triggered SKUs start when the QR is scanned, so downloading a week early can burn a 7-day pack at home. The product description states which rule applies. For destinations that restrict local eSIM sales after entry, including the UAE, install before immigration. If iOS sits on Activating at home, the January 2026 note says that can be normal; finish roaming and APN steps after you attach to a listed network.
What if the profile never connects?
After download or activation, the written path is technical failure plus a complete troubleshoot ticket and more than 24 hours without a fix. Skipping the wizard, deleting the profile, resetting the phone, buying the wrong country, using part of the data, or disliking speed are listed as non-eligible. Before download, change of mind and incompatible hardware can still be discussed, subject to the operator's fees. Digital products are otherwise described as non-returnable, with mediation and discretionary refunds, not a guarantee. File at mobimatter.com/troubleshoot with the order number. Money that is approved returns to the original Visa, Mastercard, or wallet in 10 to 45 days. Do not expect compensation for taxis or hotel Wi-Fi; liability is capped at what you paid.
Does a MobiMatter plan replace my phone number?
Usually no. Most travel packages are data-only. A few SKUs include a number with some call or SMS capability; only the product page for that SKU is authoritative. Dual SIM is how you stay reachable: home SIM for voice and SMS, MobiMatter for Cellular Data, home roaming off. WhatsApp continues on the original number if you do not use Change Number. iMessage and FaceTime stay with the home line if that line remains on. Bank OTP texts still arrive on the home number, which is why many travelers keep it active. If a local number is mandatory for ride-hailing KYC or a domestic hotline, a physical tourist SIM or a home roaming plan that includes voice is the better fit.
Can I hotspot, top up, or move the eSIM to a new phone?
Hotspot is generally yes so a laptop or tablet can share the phone, unless a product page says otherwise. Apple Watch is no; it needs a carrier subscription shared with the iPhone. Top-ups are sold in the app under Profile, My eSIMs, or at mobimatter.com/topup using the original order number and the same operator. A top-up is a new pack with its own dates; it does not stretch the first window. Transfer depends on the operator: rescan, replacement QR, or first-device lock. The April 2026 transfer article tells you to run the Troubleshooting Wizard before deleting a one-time QR. Switch stored profiles by turning the new line on, the old line off, and assigning Cellular Data to the active eSIM.
Which payments, rewards, and legal rules apply?
Terms say MOBIMATTER LTD accepts Visa and Mastercard debit and credit. The refunds page also refers to digital wallets and other methods displayed at checkout. You must be 18. Confirmation goes to the order email and, if you use the app, a notification. Invoice requests are a listed help topic; use the account or support path rather than inventing a billing portal. Rewards require a signed-in account. Cashback is optional at checkout, credits are USD, and they expire after 12 months without a purchase. Referral codes apply once on a new customer's first purchase with a previously unused card. A referrer cannot earn from more than 10 referees. ADGM law governs the site. Support is 24/7 via troubleshoot and support@mobimatter.com.
