The packing slip that still charges after $199
The first line I read on a Baby Bunting order is not the bassinet colour. It is the freight line on the packing slip — or the same line in checkout, sitting under a banner that promised free standard delivery once the cart cleared one hundred and ninety-nine dollars.
That line is the shop in miniature. Seller: Baby Bunting Pty Ltd, ABN 43 128 546 154. Parent: Baby Bunting Group Limited, ASX ticker BBN, a Melbourne family counter in 1979 if you want the origin story. I opened babybunting.com.au on 27 September 2026 and used the FY26 filing dated 14 August 2026 for the store count: eighty shops, seventy-five in Australia, five in New Zealand, close enough that they claim about eighty percent of the country sits within an hour. Who this desk is actually for
Stay if you are expecting, or already caring for a child from newborn to about three, and you want to fold a pram on a real floor before you spend four figures. Stay if a car-park fitting, a gift registry, or a twelve-week in-store layby would actually change how you pay. Stay if you will set a store on the site and then read whether that line offers Click & Collect, a same-day van, or a courier that still bills. This is a shopping map. It is not a diagnosis, and it is not a child-restraint fitting manual.
Skip the rest of this page if you only wanted the cheapest weekly nappy run. A supermarket already does that job.
Who should keep driving
The skip list is shorter than a catalogue and more useful. If any of these is your plan, close the tab and save the petrol.
- You only need the cheapest weekly nappy refill and will not fold a floor pram.
- You live in the Northern Territory or a remote postcode carved out of the free-delivery map, and you hoped the $199 banner would wipe freight on a cot.
- You planned a hospital run around capsule hire — that hire page currently says the service is unavailable.
- You want a Junior shopping-centre shop to install a seat or open a layby. Those counters do not.
- You will treat a Sold & Shipped By tile as a Baby Bunting shelf, then expect store returns and the Price Beat Promise.
- You need medical or legal advice on when a child may use a given seat. Manufacturers print limits; road rules sit with the states.
Two objects, then I stop naming
I am naming two products and then I am done. The UPPAbaby Vista V3 is the floor-model test: a travel-system pram you can collapse in the aisle, then check whether the bassinet is actually in the carton you are buying. On 27 September 2026 I left the ticket unpublished. Older screenshots wandered the mid-to-high four figures by fabric. Checkout is the price. Because prams and strollers sit outside the one-hundred-and-ninety-nine-dollar free courier, this chassis can still grow a freight line. Or you fold it, again, into your own boot after Collect.
The other is the Boori Alice cot, a timber frame tagged Only at Baby Bunting on the cards I have seen, sold as a newborn-to-five-years cot. It is the furniture version of the same problem. The free-over-$199 offer carves out big-and-heavy goods: cots, drawers, nursery chairs. The delivery hub lists a dedicated Big and Heavy option. The exact fee is unpublished as a single national number; checkout shows it for your postcode. If you came here for a catalogue of eight prams and six seats, close the tab. I will not write that list.
How a cart becomes a parcel, or a boot
Buying here is a fork, not a funnel. You can walk a full store, use the parenting room — microwave, change table, baby scales, glider chairs — book a car-park install, or start a layby. You can also order on babybunting.com.au, pick a store for Click & Collect, or type a postcode and watch the methods appear or vanish. Marketplace lines sit on the same grid. Card details stay with Baby Bunting's checkout. The packer may not.
- Set your store or postcode before you fall for a photo.
- Read Sold & Shipped By. If a third party is named, their postage and returns apply.
- Check whether Click & Collect, same-day, scheduled, courier, or Big and Heavy is even offered on that line.
- Join Baby Bunting Family before a large ticket if you want the longer change-of-mind window and fee-free layby.
- If you need a seat fitted, book the paid install at a full-format store, not a Junior shop.
- Put the bulky item in the cart, enter the address, and read the live fee. Do not trust the banner.
Fees in words, including the ones that hide
Here is where I got stuck, the first time: the banner said free over one hundred and ninety-nine dollars, and the pram still wanted a courier. That sting is not a glitch. Same-day is fourteen dollars ninety-five from a fifty-dollar cart, or nineteen ninety-five under fifty, inside fifteen kilometres of a participating store, ordered before noon, ten-dollar minimum, two-thousand-dollar maximum after rewards. Scheduled uses the same fees with a one-forty-five p.m. cutoff. Click & Collect is free on eligible Baby Bunting-sold goods. A car-park install is fifty-four dollars for one seat, ninety-five for two, one hundred and thirty-nine for three. Layby adds a five-dollar non-refundable fee unless you are a Family member.
- Free standard courier over one hundred and ninety-nine dollars — excluding prams, strollers, car seats, marketplace, hire, same-day, scheduled, and big-and-heavy furniture, and excluding all Northern Territory postcodes plus named remote ranges in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania.
- Same-day or scheduled van: fourteen dollars ninety-five from fifty dollars in the cart, nineteen ninety-five under fifty, fifteen-kilometre radius, cutoffs at noon or one-forty-five p.m.

Click & Collect is how you dodge the trapdoor. Eligible Baby Bunting stock only. Not a marketplace tile. Not every line that exists solely online. Place it before one-thirty p.m. if you want the two-hour ready aim. The ready message starts a fourteen-day clock. Miss that and the hold dies. Hidden button after you nominate a store? That line does not collect. Stop refreshing.
The van is pickier. Same-day and scheduled only show up inside fifteen kilometres of a store that runs the service. Under two hundred and fifty dollars, a home can use Authority to Leave. A business address cannot. A cart at two hundred and fifty dollars or more cannot either — those drivers want a PIN, and they will not dump the box on the mat without one. A hallway already stacked with cartons on a Sunday is not an excuse to guess. Remote or Territory addresses should treat Collect at a reachable store as the plan, not the banner.
Family, a five percent beat, and a layby that will not start online
Baby Bunting Family is free. The loyalty page still lists a ten-dollar welcome credit and a ten-dollar birthday credit for each child aged one to three, two children a year, if the birth month and year sit on My Family Profile at least a week before that birthday month. Members get the layby fee waived and sixty days to change their mind instead of thirty. Credits die at the end of day sixty. The Price Beat Promise is narrower than the name. Identical Australian competitor ticket, fifty dollars or more, delivery included: they say they will come in five percent lower. They will not chase a marketplace tile on their own site, an overseas parcel, a members-only rival price, a ticket under fifty dollars, a liquidation, a competitor's service, an exclusive line, or the ticket at another Baby Bunting store. That last one is a match. Bundles get matched, not beaten. A spoken quote is not evidence.
Layby does not start in a browser. Twenty percent down, then fortnightly payments at the same full-format store, hold of up to twelve weeks. Junior will not open one. Afterpay is the substitute the layby page names for the website. The layby terms say loyalty credits cannot sit on the deposit; the Family page still talks about a ten-dollar reward helping at setup. Ask which sentence wins before you sign. Cards and wallets on the payment page: Mastercard, Visa, UnionPay, American Express, PayPal, Afterpay, Pay by Bank, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ZipPAY, ZipMoney, eftpos, gift cards or eVouchers, and cash if you are standing at a till.
The tile that looks like the rest of the aisle
Scroll far enough and babybunting.com.au stops being a single warehouse. Third-party sellers sit on the same grid. The giveaway is Sold & Shipped By. That name is the packer, and their postage can appear as a second line at pay. Those tiles are locked out of the five percent Price Beat, out of Click & Collect, out of the store change-of-mind counter, and out of the free courier over one hundred and ninety-nine dollars. Return rules belong to that seller. If you want a local shop to look at a fault, buy a line Baby Bunting itself sold.
The return form, and the hygiene list a counter will not take
Australian Consumer Law does not go away because a retailer wrote its own returns page. For goods Baby Bunting itself sold, change of mind is thirty days for a refund, exchange, or store credit, then exchange or credit after that. Family stretches the clock to sixty. You still need a receipt. The item has to look unopened: box, tags, seals, the extra bits that came in the carton. Money goes back the way it came; a gift card stays a gift card. They will not take gift cards, clearance, ex-display, marketplace parcels, food, formula, maternity briefs, baby swimwear, toilet-training kit, or anything worn against skin once the seal is gone — dummies, teats, pumps, skincare. A registry is a list, not a price lock. Guests pay whatever the tile shows that day.
The $199 banner is a trapdoor, not a doormat. Fold the floor model in the aisle, read Sold & Shipped By before you treat a tile like a store shelf, and assume anything with wheels or a mattress will punch a freight line through the welcome mat.

What this shop will not do for you
Capsule and car-seat hire is listed as unavailable. Do not plan a hospital run around a loan shell unless that page has changed the day you need it. Junior is a small-format shopping-centre pilot for a shorter browse. No install. No layby. Confirm services on that store's finder page. A compact seat that fits three-across in one car may not fit yours. I will not tell you which restraint to buy.

Can I Click & Collect a marketplace order?
No. The collect button is for stock Baby Bunting sold and the nominated store can actually stage. Marketplace sellers are written out of that two-hour hold on both the Click & Collect page and the delivery hub. Some Baby Bunting lines that exist only online sit outside collect too. After you pick a store, if the button is missing, stop arguing with the page. Place the order before one-thirty p.m. if you want the two-hour ready aim, then collect within fourteen days of the ready notice. Need it today and the packer is a third party? Buy a Baby Bunting-sold stand-in, or wait on that seller's courier. Driving to a shop will not summon a marketplace carton from the back room.
How does the 5% Price Beat Promise actually work?
Identical item, same colour, fifty dollars or more at an Australian competitor that has it in stock, and Baby Bunting must have it too. Add their delivery cost. File the form or walk the proof into a store. Promotional tickets can qualify if they are not excluded. Out: marketplace tiles on this site, overseas shippers, club prices, clearance, a rival's service, exclusive lines, and another Baby Bunting shop. That last one is a match, not a five percent haircut. A cheaper bundle is matched as a bundle. Screenshot the rival page with delivery and a date. A phone quote is not a claim.
Do they still hire capsules, and what is a Junior store?
Hire is off. The capsule and car-seat loan page still reads unavailable and sends you to buy a seat and book an accredited fit. Do not build a hospital discharge around a loan shell unless that page has flipped the morning you need it. Junior is the small mall format the FY26 report called a curated stop on a daily route. No fitting bay. No layby desk. Afterpay is the substitute the layby page names. Walk a Junior for a short look, then go to a full store for an installer, a twelve-week hold, or a floor with room to fold a pram. The store finder is the live list.
What if I live in the Northern Territory or a listed remote postcode?
The one-hundred-and-ninety-nine-dollar free courier is a map with holes. Every Northern Territory postcode is out. So are named remote bands in Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and Tasmania, printed on the free-delivery page. Even on a qualifying postcode, the banner still skips marketplace tiles, prams, strollers, car seats, hire, same-day, scheduled, and big-and-heavy furniture. Same-day and scheduled vans need a participating store within fifteen kilometres. From Darwin, Alice Springs, or a listed remote band, a Click & Collect you can physically reach is usually saner than waiting for the threshold to erase freight. Drop the cot or pram in the cart, type the address, and read the number checkout invents. I will not publish a fake flat fee.
Can I return a car seat or a dummy if I change my mind?
Open a dummy, soother, teat, teether, or pump kit and change-of-mind is usually finished. Those sit on the hygiene list with formula and other close-skin goods. Car seats are not spelled out on that list the way dummies are, but unused still means unused: box, seals, no install. Once the seat has been in the car, you are arguing a fault, not a change of mind. Family gets sixty days; everyone else gets thirty for a refund path on Baby Bunting-sold goods, then exchange or credit. Clearance and floor-model seats do not get the courtesy window. If the seat is faulty, take the receipt to a store and use Australian Consumer Law instead of the returns slogan. If you might send it back, leave the seal alone.
When will a same-day van leave a parcel at the door?
Authority to Leave on same-day or scheduled runs applies under two hundred and fifty dollars at a home address. It does not apply to business addresses. It does not apply once the cart hits two hundred and fifty dollars or more; those drops want a PIN, and the van will not leave the box on the mat without one. The fifteen-kilometre circle and the noon or one-forty-five p.m. cutoffs still have to be true, and marketplace lines stay off this van. If nobody can meet the driver and the cart is over that mark, pick Click & Collect or wait for a courier that publishes its own leave rules.
Is layby available online, and what does a cancel cost?
Layby is in-store only at a full-format Baby Bunting, not on babybunting.com.au and not at Junior. You put twenty percent down, pay fortnightly at the same store, and the goods can be held up to twelve weeks. The five-dollar fee is waived for Family members. Cancellation can cost up to twenty percent of the initial layby value. Afterpay is the named online substitute. If the Family page and the layby terms disagree about using a ten-dollar reward on the deposit, ask the counter which rule is live before you sign.
