Leocare is a broker app, not a mystery “insurtech bank”
Leocare is the commercial name of a société par actions simplifiée registered at RCS Paris under 831 053 863 and at ORIAS under 17005975. The legal notices on leocare.eu list the registered office at 16, Esplanade du Champ de Mars, 35000 Rennes, and name Christophe Dandois as président and directeur de publication. NAF code 6622Z is the French classification for insurance brokers. The ORIAS record repeats the Rennes address, SIREN, phone 09 62 62 63 77, and email leoconseiller@leocare.fr. If a screenshot of an app store page is your only due diligence, stop and check orias.fr.
The product is a 100 percent mobile insurance relationship for everyday risks: auto, habitation, moto, plus adjacent lines the homepage currently advertises such as student housing, scolaire, and animaux. Leocare is a courtier. Risk is carried by partner insurers, not by a secret Leocare balance sheet. Mentions légales list underwriting and assistance partners that have included Allianz, AXA, CMAM, and Generali on auto; AXA and Mila on habitation; Allianz on moto; and assistance names such as Mondial Assistance, AXA Partners, and AXA Assistance. Comparison sites have also described L’Équité as carrying auto and home risk at points in the company’s history. Partner panels change. The contract you sign names the carrier. Read that carrier, not a 2019 blog post.
Founders named in trade write-ups include Noureddine Bekrar, Christophe Dandois, and Emmanuel Vallée, with a 2017 start date. French insurance press has cited a 3 million euro round in 2019 and a further 15 million euros in 2021; those are historical capital events, not a promise about today’s premiums. The homepage claims 1 million downloads, 350,000 policyholders, France-based support, and an average saving of 452 euros per year with an asterisk. Those figures are marketing. Your quote is the tariff the app returns after you tell it the truth about the car, the home, and the drivers.
Who can subscribe, and which documents the app will demand
Eligibility is narrow and written in plain language. You must be an adult, live in France métropolitaine, hold a French RIB, and supply the supporting documents for the product. Overseas departments, cross-border commuters without a French account, and minors are outside that gate. Leocare tells you to run a free quote to test eligibility rather than to email a special cases desk. Entering decorative data to cheapen a premium is how contracts get voided. The app is fast because it is a form. It is not a negotiation with a cousin at a mutuelle.
Document lists differ by product. Habitation: identity document and RIB. Auto: driving licence, carte grise, relevé d’information, and RIB. Moto: moto licence, moto relevé d’information, carte grise, RIB, plus the auto licence and auto relevé in the list Leocare currently publishes. Those files must arrive within 30 days of subscription or the contract is not validated. That 30-day clock is the unglamorous part of “covered in a few taps.” You can bind a policy in the app and still fall out of cover if the carte grise never uploads. Put the PDFs in your phone before you start, not after a scooter ride.
- Adult resident of France métropolitaine with a French RIB.
- Habitation: ID plus RIB.
- Auto: licence, carte grise, relevé d’information, RIB.
- Moto: moto licence and relevé, carte grise, RIB, plus auto licence and auto relevé as listed on leocare.eu.
- Upload everything within 30 days of subscription.
- Existing customers can ask Leocare to handle termination of the previous insurer at no extra fee, according to the site.
Run a devis on leocare.eu or in the app with your real licence, carte grise, and address. Eligibility for France métropolitaine is decided there, not in a review.
Get a Leocare quote →Auto, home, and moto formulas you can actually toggle
The Google Play listing for the Leocare app describes three auto formulas: Tiers, Tiers +, and Tous risques, each with 0 km assistance, a courtesy vehicle, and live tow-truck tracking, plus the ability to activate or deactivate a secondary driver. Moto uses the same three-tier shape, with 0 km assistance, a courtesy auto or moto, a taxi if a helmet is stolen, parts dispatch, wintering periods you can switch from the phone, and a Premium Liberty Rider subscription for the life of the moto contract on that listing. Equipment and accessories are advertised with zero excess. Habitation is listed as Eco, Medium, and Premium, with assistance items such as home help after a domestic accident, SOS keys, mountain search-and-rescue costs branded Carte Neige, rehousing after specified events, and call-out for electricity, boiler, or leak emergencies. Those feature lists are the store page’s. Your signed conditions prevail if a bullet is missing from the IPID.
Advertised starting prices on leocare.eu have shown auto from 14.90 euros per month and habitation from 7.87 euros per month. Those are “dès” figures, the French word that means the cheapest displayed case, not the tariff for a Paris parking-garage sports car or a stone farmhouse. Moto pricing is not given as a single homepage number in the same strip. School, student housing, and pet products sit on the same marketing page; this review will not invent premiums for them. Payment is described as card with 3-D Secure or Google Pay, with electronic signature. Hosting is Microsoft Azure. Development is attributed to Insurlytech in Cesson-Sévigné. None of that replaces reading the IPID and the tableau des garanties.
Formulas can be adjusted after purchase. Raise cover or cut the excess and Leocare says an endorsement runs at day plus 30 after you accept the new price. Lowering cover or raising the excess is a separate path in the same menus. The delay is the point: this is still insurance, not a music streaming toggle that takes effect before the next song. From the app the path is the contract, Gérer mon contrat, then Ajuster la formule. The website mirrors that with Modifier mon contrat. If you need the change tomorrow because you just bought a different car, talk to a counsellor rather than assuming the slider is live.
Claims, carte verte, and the human desk behind the chat bubble
Claims are filed in the app. Leocare says a claims handler contacts you after the declaration and that you can follow handling and reimbursement without chasing. Support is described as Monday to Saturday by phone, in-app chat, email, and social networks, with staff in France. That is the operational bet: fewer branches, more chat transcripts. It works when the photo of the bumper is sharp and the other driver’s number is in the notes. It fails when you need a wet signature in a préfecture queue. Keep the app notifications on during a claim, and export PDFs of what you sent. Chat feels informal. It is still a declaration.
France abolished the green insurance card on 1 April 2024. Police check the Fichier des véhicules assurés. Leocare issues a mémo d’assurance from the customer area once documents are complete. Do not wait for a paper carte verte that will not arrive. If you drive abroad, ask whether the mémo and the green-card replacement rules of the destination country are enough; that is a territorial-cover question in your auto conditions, not an app-icon question. The homepage’s “guarantees you can change at any time” slogan is sales language wrapped around the endorsement process above. It is not a statutory right to rewrite a claim after the crash.
- ORIAS 17005975 and SIREN 831 053 863 are the identity numbers to verify on official registers.
- Quotes are in-app or on leocare.eu; advertised floors are 14.90 euros a month auto and 7.87 euros a month home.
- Auto and moto: Tiers / Tiers + / Tous risques on the Play Store description; home: Eco / Medium / Premium.
- Claims open in the app; a handler is supposed to call you, with tracking in the same interface.
- Mémo d’assurance replaces the old carte verte after documents are in.
- Cover changes that increase protection wait until an avenant at J+30 after you accept the new tariff.
Treat Leocare as a regulated French broker with a phone-shaped office. The useful checks are ORIAS, France métropolitaine eligibility, the 30-day document deadline, and the carrier named on the contract, not the download count on the homepage.

Where the model is a good fit, and where it is the wrong tool
Leocare fits a driver or tenant in metropolitan France who already lives on a smartphone, who can photograph a carte grise, and who wants one chat thread for a quote, an endorsement, and a broken mirror. It fits someone switching insurer who will let Leocare send the termination, and someone who will actually upload the relevé d’information instead of guessing bonus-malus. It is a poor fit if you live in a DOM-TOM, if you only have a foreign IBAN, if you want a branch on the square, or if your risk is a commercial fleet. It is also a poor fit if you treat in-app toggles as a way to under-insure Monday and over-insure Friday. Insurers notice patterns. So do claims teams.
Referral exists. Current customers share a link from the Service tab or the web Parrainage page. The referred friend must be new to Leocare. This review will not invent the euro amount of that bonus, because the site describes the mechanism more clearly than a frozen figure. If you are only opening the app for a referral code, you are not the customer the underwriting partners priced. Be the person who needs auto or habitation cover. Let the bonus be a side effect.
FAQ
Is Leocare an insurance company? It is an intermediary (courtier) listed on ORIAS as 17005975. Insurers on the risk are named in the contract and have included groups such as Allianz, AXA, and Generali depending on the product and year. Can someone outside metropolitan France buy a policy? The published rule is adults in France métropolitaine with a French RIB. How fast is a quote? The company advertises a devis in about a minute. How do I prove insurance to police without a green card? Use the mémo d’assurance after documents are filed; the FVA is what officers query. When must documents arrive? Within 30 days of subscription.
Can I change formulas later? Yes, in the app or website; upgrades wait for a J+30 endorsement after you accept the new price. Is there human support? Phone, chat, email, and social, Monday to Saturday, described as France-based. What about student housing, school, and pets? They appear on the homepage as products; quote them in the app rather than assuming the auto floors apply. Who hosts the site? Microsoft Azure, per the legal notice. Who is the president? Christophe Dandois. Where is the office? Rennes, 16 Esplanade du Champ de Mars. Always re-read orias.fr because registrations can be withdrawn; a review dated 15 September 2026 is not a live register.
How to compare a Leocare devis with a mutuelle or bank offer
Export or screenshot the guarantees, excesses, driver exclusions, territorial limits, and assistance ceilings. Compare those lines with a bancassureur and a mutuelle on the same car or the same number of rooms. Ignore download badges. Check whether glass, driver injury, and mechanical breakdown sit in the tier you clicked. Check whether a named young driver is even allowed. If Leocare is cheaper, ask whether the relevé d’information you typed matches the one from your current insurer. If it is more expensive, the app may have priced a risk your old contract had already accepted. Either outcome is information. Pay the one that still exists after a claim, not the one that looked cheapest in a minute.
Verify ORIAS 17005975, then request an auto, home, or moto quote on leocare.eu if you live in France métropolitaine and have a French RIB.
