Lead Academy Buying Guide: CPD PDFs, Signature BSL, and the Extra Certificate Invoice

lead-academy.org is the shopfront of Global Education Explore Ltd trading as Lead Academy. Companies House lists company 12277559, incorporated 23 October 2019, still active, SIC 85590 and 85600. The registered office is Office Mr-12, Basepoint Business Centre, Rivermead Drive, Westlea, Swindon, SN5 7EX — a business-centre unit, not a lecture hall. The contact page also prints a London desk at Bank Studio, 23 Park Royal Road, NW10 7JH. Support is info@lead-academy.org, business mail is business@lead-academy.org, sales is 0300 124 5585, and support is 020 3880 8347. The terms name that company as the contracting party for every online and classroom purchase.

I opened the cart on 26 September 2026 and treated it like a packing slip: who bills you, what the SKU actually is, and which fee arrives after you pass. I clicked a London phlebotomy classroom tile, a £29 fire-marshal module, a Functional Skills exam route, and the Limitless Learning year, then opened the terms next to the sale banners. Those are not four flavours of the same product. One is a live class with a no-refund rule. One is a self-paced CPD with a one-year login. One is an Ofqual-regulated assessment booked with Pearson Edexcel, Open Awards, or TQUK. The year pass is a library that still excludes the regulated and classroom seats. If you only read the logo, you will buy the wrong ticket.

Three tickets hide under one checkout button

The cheap row is CPD. Health-and-safety titles sat at £29 on the category page I loaded, often struck through from £60. Manual Handling Training Course Online printed £29 and marked it ex VAT. Workplace Health & Safety, Asbestos Awareness, Fire Marshal, Basic Life Support, and the neighbouring titles sat in that same band. Personal Safety Course for Lone Workers was £35, down from £60: 1 hour 40 minutes, one year on the materials, multiple-choice, 75 percent pass, email tutor help until you finish. That is a short workplace briefing, not a licence.

The middle row is a bundle or a membership. The terms still advertise a five-course CPD and IPHM pack at £75, struck through from £625, and they warn that Ofqual titles and some premium titles sit outside that deal. The live bundle shelf I opened was different: Accounting and Payroll at £119, Care Certificate standards 1 to 16 at £125, Teaching Assistant 14-course set at £162, and the Online TEFL (TESOL) Certification Mega Bundle at £102 (was £792) for 26 hours 42 minutes. Limitless Learning marketed a year at £95 (was £179) and lifetime at £179 (was £199). The terms still print £99 for 12 months. I could not make those two figures agree from the public pages alone.

The expensive row is regulated or live. That same morning the homepage showed London phlebotomy at £150, Swindon advanced phlebotomy at £305, Birmingham phlebotomy at £139, Vitamin B12 Injection Training at £186, Functional Skills Maths Level 2 at £162, and an Edexcel GCSE Maths course-and-exam tile at £83. Functional Skills English Level 2 showed a struck-through £399 and left the live figure unpublished. Signature BSL is a different aisle: Level 1 £550, Level 2 £655, Level 3 £1,300, each 33 weeks including exams, two Zoom hours a week, six instalments. A CPD-only BSL Level 1 and 2 video sat at £29.99. Those two BSL products must not be confused.

Buy it if you already know which paper your employer will accept

This cart is useful if a manager asked for a short CPD briefing and you can show a verifiable PDF. It is also useful if you want Functional Skills Level 2 as a GCSE-grade-4-equivalent route and will sit a named-board exam, or if you want Signature BSL and can keep a weekday afternoon Zoom slot for 33 weeks. Invoice or purchase-order payment exists; the lone-worker FAQ sends that request to info@lead-academy.org. Instalments exist, but terms restrict the plan to courses advertised at £150 or above, and certificates wait until every instalment clears.

Age is almost unpublished for single CPD titles. The membership FAQ does draw a line: you must be at least 16 to take Limitless Learning. A device and a stable connection are the only entry rules on the lone-worker and TEFL pages I read. Login details are promised by email within 24 hours, with a reminder to check junk. I never received that email in this check, so I cannot confirm the inbox timing from a live purchase. That is one gap I will not paper over.

Walk away if you grabbed the £29 tile for a regulated job

Skip the CPD aisle if a college, council, or clinic asked for an Ofqual-regulated award and you are staring at a one-hour MCQ. The Quality Licence Scheme pages are honest on the point the banners bury: QLS endorsement is not Ofqual regulation. The TEFL Mega Bundle says QLS is a brand of the Skills and Education Group and charges £65 per course. That is a quality mark on a provider course, not a national qualification number. IPHM, RoSPA, and the CPD Certification Service appear as partners on the about or category pages. I am repeating those names as printed. I am not treating them as government licences.

Skip the membership if your real target is Functional Skills, ESOL, other Ofqual titles, premium catalogue items, or face-to-face training. The membership FAQ and clause 7.2 say those sit outside Limitless Learning. Skip a classroom phlebotomy seat if you need a change-of-mind refund; clause 12.4 calls classroom bookings non-refundable. You may postpone once if you email info@lead-academy.org with three full working days’ notice. Miss the class and you pay again to sit another date. Skip the official exam add-on if you think you can reverse it after Lead Academy has booked the awarding body. Clause 12.3 says that payment is then closed.

Lead Academy is a fair cart when you already know whether you are buying a one-year CPD login, a Signature Zoom year, or an Ofqual exam seat. It is a messy cart when you treat those three receipts as interchangeable because they share a logo.

The certificate is a second checkout, not a download that appears by magic

Clause 4.1 is the sentence most shoppers miss. You order the certificate after you pass. It is not posted automatically. On the lone-worker page the CPD PDF is included and print is £35, with free UK shipping or £30 / £40 DHL abroad. The TEFL Mega Bundle charges £12 for the CPD PDF, £35 to print, and £65 for QLS endorsement on each course. Subscription clause 7.3 is colder: the year buys the library, not the accredited file. A completion PDF exists if you write to support. Year-pass marketing still promises free CPD hard copies on four courses and a student ID. Those perks are advertising. The contract bills accreditation separately.

Timing is printed: CPD PDF in 24 hours, hard-copy CPD in 5 to 7 business days, QLS in 7 to 9. I could not verify those windows from a real envelope. I also could not verify the card processor, a checkout surcharge, or a VAT number on a live receipt. A third-party company database lists VAT GB365741478 for Global Education Explore Ltd. That number did not appear on the course pages I opened, so treat it as unpublished until your own invoice shows it.

• Finish the modules, sit the MCQ, and wait for a pass before you order anything with a crest on it
• Read the course page for three different files: free or £12 CPD PDF, £35 printed CPD, £65 QLS endorsement where that scheme is offered
• Add print shipping if you live outside the UK: £30 standard or £40 DHL on the lone-worker page; UK print shipping listed as free
• On a membership or the £75 five-course bundle, budget the accreditation charge again; the terms say those deals are access, not the accredited certificate
• If you used instalments, wait until every payment has cleared. Clause 13.2 withholds certificates until the plan is finished
• Student ID cards, transcripts, and enrolment letters are listed as non-refundable once ordered

Fourteen days, then the 20 percent trap, then the two-course trap

The homepage banner says 14 days money back. The terms are narrower. Clause 12.1 gives fourteen calendar days from purchase under the Consumer Contracts Regulations, which the page dates as 2020. Finish more than 20 percent, or collect the certificate, and the refund is gone. Certificates, transcripts, enrolment letters, and student ID orders are excluded in every case. Cancel at info@lead-academy.org. Do not binge the vault on day one if you still want that window.

Membership uses a different kill switch. Clauses 7.7 and 12.2 keep the fourteen days, then cut you off if you have already finished more than two CPD courses. Bundle clause 8.6 uses the 20 percent test on any course in the pack. Ofqual Functional Skills and ESOL add a third: complete the initial or diagnostic assessment and that refund is gone. Classroom seats never enter the window. The Functional Skills marketing page still says 14 days, no questions asked. Read clause 12 before you click the first diagnostic.

Cancelling a membership later is simpler than getting money back. The FAQ says you cancel in the account or through support. Completed courses stay for 12 months from the most recent payment. Renewal is yearly. I could not verify the cancel-button path because I did not create a paid account. Two family logins are a marketing bullet. The terms I read did not spell out how those extras are issued or revoked.

A year of videos, a 33-week Zoom diary, or a 55-hour exam plan

Access length is not one number. Lone-worker and TEFL pages promise one year on the materials. The about page mentions lifetime access in a general marketing line. Membership is twelve months or a lifetime tier; cancel the year pass and completed courses hang on for 12 months from the last payment. Signature BSL is a diary: Level 1 Monday 13:00–15:00, Level 2 Thursday 14:00–16:00, Level 3 Wednesday 15:00–17:00, for 33 weeks. Functional Skills Maths Level 2 lists 55 guided learning hours. Remote exam kit lists are long — Chrome, webcam, second-camera phone, quiet room. I did not sit that exam, so I will not pretend I watched an invigilator accept a room sweep.

Payment plans are advertised three ways on the same site. The homepage promises three instalments and, a line later, four. Functional Skills Maths offered four payments from £37.25. Signature BSL offered six. Terms 13.1 limit the plan to courses at £150 or above and block exam booking, assignment feedback, and classroom attendance until the balance is clear. A £29 module should not expect a split cart. A £550 BSL seat needs the instalment count checked on the last screen, not the banner.

What I could not verify from a public cart

Library size is a mess. Membership marketing says 1000+ courses. The terms say 700+. The about page claims 2,500+ courses and 250,000+ students. I have no warehouse count, and I cannot audit the “250+ universities and companies” logo wall. The about page lists Pearson Edexcel, Signature, the CPD Certification Service, RoSPA, Quality Licence Scheme, and IPHM. Those names appear on Lead Academy pages. I cannot confirm a contract with each logo. Course content can change without notice under clauses 1.5 and 10.5. Already-paid orders keep their price under clause 2.2.

Liability for ordinary losses is capped at the course price. A dropped home connection mid-exam is your problem. Intellectual property stays with the training providers, and sharing a login can close the account. Privacy copy points at the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR, English-only data requests, and a one-month target for access. That is the paragraph that applies if you pay by card.

Checkout questions I still had after reading the terms

What name will show on my card statement?

The contracting name in the terms is Global Education Explore Ltd trading as Lead Academy. I could not capture a live card descriptor from a completed payment, so the statement text is unpublished. If a finance team needs a supplier record, use company 12277559 and the Swindon registered office. Ask info@lead-academy.org for a purchase-order invoice before you pay if your employer will not accept a consumer checkout.

Does the £95 year include Functional Skills and classroom phlebotomy?

No. Clause 7.2 and the membership FAQ exclude premium courses, Ofqual-regulated courses, and face-to-face training. Functional Skills Maths and English, Signature BSL awards, and the London or Swindon phlebotomy seats sit outside that pass. The year is a CPD library. It is not an all-you-can-sit exam board.

The tile said the certificate was free. Why is there another fee?

Because “certificate” means three different files. Some CPD pages include the accredited PDF and charge £35 to print it. The TEFL Mega Bundle charges £12 for the CPD PDF. Membership includes a completion PDF through support and still bills accreditation. QLS endorsement on that TEFL pack is £65 per course. Always read the certification block on the SKU you are buying, not the membership banner.

Can I cancel a Signature BSL Zoom seat if Thursday afternoons collapse?

Treat it as a classroom-style booking unless support writes otherwise. Clause 12.4 makes classroom bookings non-refundable and allows one postpone with three full working days’ notice to info@lead-academy.org. The BSL pages advertise live Zoom, official exams, and a 33-week span. I did not find a separate BSL withdrawal clause. Email before you assume a cooling-off refund still applies after the first live hour.

What if I start the Functional Skills diagnostic and then want out?

Clause 12.1 says an Ofqual Functional Skills, ESOL, or similar regulated enrolment loses its refund once you complete the initial or diagnostic assessment. The marketing page still advertises 14 days. The diagnostic is the trapdoor. Do not open it until you are sure you want that board. After the official exam is booked with the awarding body, clause 12.3 also blocks a refund of that exam fee. Alternative dates can carry extra charges; the Maths page sends those questions to exams@lead-academy.org.

Is the £29 health course plus VAT at checkout?

Manual Handling Training Course Online was the only title in that row that printed “Ex. VAT” next to £29 when I loaded the category. Neighbouring £29 titles did not repeat that mark on the same grid. I could not complete a card payment, so I cannot tell you whether VAT is added on the last screen. If you are buying for a company, ask for an invoice and a VAT line before you approve the spend.

How long do I keep the videos after I pass?

Single CPD and the TEFL Mega Bundle print one year of access. Membership is twelve months or lifetime, then a 12-month tail on completed courses after your last payment if you cancel the year pass. Lifetime membership marketing claims lifetime access to the library. I could not test whether a cancelled lifetime account still opens old modules. Save your certificate files outside the portal. Portals change.

If the SKU type is honest, the rest is just arithmetic

Lead Academy is a high-volume UK e-learning checkout with a real company number, a real Swindon registered office, and a terms page that is more useful than the sale banners. Use it for a £29 briefing you will finish this month, a £102 TEFL bundle you will treat as CPD, a £162 Functional Skills route you will actually sit, or a £550 Signature year you can attend. Do not use it as a shortcut to a regulated title you did not buy. Recheck the live price on the day you pay. The struck-through figures move, and the terms already warn they can move again.
